Purpose of the Workshops
The purpose of these workshops is to increase awareness and sensitivity
about the differences we each bring to the campus. Each session
will have a focus of engaging participants in a dialogue about how
to create a more inclusive environment and build the skills necessary
for working successfully with diverse co-workers, faculty and students.
Discussing some of these topics can be uncomfortable, and in recognition
of this, the facilitators of the workshops promote an atmosphere
of respect and safety.
Although many of these workshops have a well-developed format,
they can be specifically tailored to meet the goals and needs of
the group. Other kinds of programs can also be created to meet a
unique need of a department.
