Dear UC Davis Faculty, Staff, Students, and Community Members,

We are delighted to announce that the first lecture of the 2018-2019 season of The UC Davis Forums on the Public University and the Social Good will take place two weeks from now on Thursday, November 29th.

This lecture will feature Professor Marybeth Gasman, the Judy & Howard Berkowitz Professor of Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Drawing on a forthcoming book of hers titled We Don't Want Them: Faculty Diversity in Academe (Princeton University Press), Professor Gasman will argue that systemic racism permeates faculty hiring and diversity and will urge those in the academy to make changes that are necessary to bring about equity and opportunity.

The lecture will take place in the Multipurpose Room of the Student Community Center from 3 to 4:30 PM. A reception and light refreshments will follow. This event is free and open to the public, and if you wish to attend, please RSVP using the link below.
