October 1, 2019 – UC Davis has fully embraced our journey toward achieving Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) designation as part of our ongoing commitment to the success of students and to our mission as a California public, research intensive and land grant university. Our enrollments of Chicanx/Latinx students have been steadily increasing since 2008, when UC Davis set its goal to become a HSI.

ABA honors 5 women for their service to the legal profession

The ABA Commission on Women in the Profession established the Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Awards in 1991 to celebrate female lawyers for their professional accomplishments and support of other women in the legal profession. The annual awards are given in honor of Margaret Brent, the first female lawyer who arrived in the colonies in 1638. She was a master negotiator, an accomplished litigator and a prominent figure in Maryland.

On Saturday, July 27, the UC Davis School of Medicine’s six week summer Prep Médico program graduated its 2019 cohort of undergraduate students pursuing their dream of becoming doctors.

Aguilar-Gaxiola appointed to national committees to improve health and community engagement

Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola, a thought leader in reducing health disparities and building strong communities, was recently appointed to the National Advisory Council of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation.

ACE Unveils New Resource on the Status of Race and Ethnicity in Higher Education
