Professor Jeffrey Sherman is a distinguished social psychologist at the University of California, Davis, renowned for his research on the cognitive processes underlying social judgments and behaviors. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1989, followed by a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1994. Before joining UC Davis in 2005, he served as an assistant and later associate professor at Northwestern University. Professor Sherman's work primarily focuses on stereotyping, prejudice, and implicit bias, exploring how individuals perceive themselves and others. He has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Anneliese Maier Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2013. Beyond his research, he contributes to the academic community as the editor of the journal Social Cognition and leads the Social Cognition Lab at UC Davis.
