We invite you to join us for the upcoming Avanza HSI Forum on Thursday, May 29, from 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM, at the UC Davis Alumni Center—a critical gathering at a pivotal moment in our university’s journey toward becoming a fully thriving Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).

This Forum is more than a meeting; it is a space for open dialogue, shared accountability, and collective vision. As we continue to navigate questions around equity, representation, and student success, the discussions we have now will shape the institutional choices we make for years to come.

UC Davis remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that all students not only succeed but truly thrive. The information that will be shared in this forum will take a historical look at the goals from our HSI Task Force Report, share updates, and consider next steps for advancement. 

The Forum will focus on key issues central to this mission, including:

• 2025 Recruitment & Yield Results – What the data tells us and how we move forward
• Rising Scholar Retention – Strategies to foster persistence and belonging across all disciplines
• STEM Major Retention – Exploring culturally relevant counseling and advising practices that work
• Latinx Research Enterprise
  • Graduate Students – Current strategies and future opportunities

In addition, we will be live-streaming the START Town Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., featuring Co-Chair Michael Bradford, Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education. He will present the committee’s four key recommendations on the Future of Undergraduate Education at UC Davis.
