UC Davis Adopts Inclusive Excellence

UC Davis has introduced Inclusive Excellence as a new way of framing the work that the institution is doing as it relates to advancing access, opportunity, and institutional progress for all members of the university community. The brand refresh reflects UC Davis’ long-standing commitment to cultivating a culture of respect and accelerating opportunities for academic excellence.

UC Davis adheres to California's Proposition 209, which prohibits discrimination against or giving preferential treatment to any individual or group in public employment, public education, or public contracting on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin.

Grounded in UC Davis’s Principles of Community, Inclusive Excellence supports a wide range of efforts that drive educational access, community health, workforce readiness and faculty advancement. These include leading the Northern California K–16 Regional Education Collaboratives, supporting community-based mental health initiatives through the Center for Reducing Health Disparities, and mentoring first-generation scholars through faculty networks. Projects such as Dynamic Discussions further highlight UC Davis’s role in fostering civic dialogue and cultivating the skills essential to maintaining a healthy university climate and thriving democracy.

“Promoting a welcoming environment where all individuals can thrive is essential to a public university and to UC’s mission of teaching, research and public service,” said Vice Chancellor Renetta Garrison Tull. “We are deeply committed to uplifting all of our students, faculty and staff, and providing the best care for our patients.”
