Diversity Awareness Workshop
Offered by Diversity & Inclusion Education and Training, this two-day workshop is offered four times every academic year: typically twice before the beginning of Fall Quarter, once in Winter Quarter, and once in Spring Quarter. UC Davis and UC Davis Health faculty, staff, and graduate students with teaching appointments are invited to apply to participate. Applications are accepted every summer for the coming academic year's workshop sessions.
Since its inception in 1993, this workshop has engaged participants in dialogues with colleagues with the goal of increasing awareness of and sensitivity to diversity on our campus. Part of the workshop is to discuss ways that we can operationalize our UC Davis Principles of Community by exploring concepts related to social justice, equity, and inclusion, and how we may dismantle oppression, prejudice, and discrimination.
The first of our two-day diversity workshops is scheduled this fall for Monday and Tuesday, November 16 & 17, 2020 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with more sessions planned in winter and spring. If you are interested in participating in or would like to nominate a colleague for one of our sessions, please complete the online Participant Interest Form.
Space is limited, so please respond by October 16, 2020 in order to be considered. We will send out notification letters in late October. If selected, participants will receive a confirmation letter with additional information; those not selected this year will be notified and their names will be placed on the waiting list, and they will receive priority for future sessions. At this time we are only able to consider participants who have not attended the workshop in previous years.
If you have any questions, please contact Sunny Dosanjh at email@example.com or at (530) 754‑0610.
"This was an awesome experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to challenge their own personal status quo. There is no way you can look at things the same after this workshop!” – Spring 2019
“This should be a mandatory course for every career UCD employee” – Winter 2019
“I loved this training. As the day got nearer I was dreading the time away from my work (as I am so behind), but I thought this was such a great experience. We are so intellectual and it was nice to have an opportunity to really connect with others, and many who I would not ever have met otherwise. Thank you so much for this great experience.” – Fall 2018
