Dr. Carvajal-Carmona Elected to Serve on Minorities in Cancer Research Council

UC Davis Associate Professor Dr. Luis G Carvajal-Carmona was recently selected to serve a three-year term on the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Minorities in Cancer Research (MICR) Council.

In his invitation the Nominating Committee cited his many contributions to the scientific field and dedication to the MICR mission. The National Cancer Institute recently published a spotlight on Dr. Carvajal-Carmona's work including his lab's work on "the study of cancer health disparities, and more specifically, the genetics and epidemiology of cancer in Hispanics. He and his team are working to develop cohorts and tumor models to help us understand why this population tends to have a higher incidence and mortality of certain cancers."
