Champions for DEI
The Sacramento Business Journal has named two leaders from UC Davis as Champions for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Renetta Garrison Tull, vice chancellor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Hendry Ton, associate vice chancellor for Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, were among the six people and seven organizations the publication honored.

UC Davis Receives NSF Funding to Expand Leadership Opportunities for Engineering Graduate Students
The NSF Broadening Participation in Engineering Award includes nearly $400,000 in funding which will bring an executive leadership program for engineering graduate students called PROMISE Engineering Institute Mentoring Academy (PEI-MA). Vice chancellor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at UC Davis Renetta Garrison Tull is principal investigator of this project that also includes involvement from faculty at Stanford University and University of Maryland.

Principles of Community Week: Celebrating A Pioneer in Health Equity – Dr. Jann Murray-García
During February 12–16, the UC Davis campuses in Davis and Sacramento celebrated Principles of Community Week — a time spent reflecting on the shared aspiration to advance respect, equity, learning and community. This year, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion was delighted to highlight Dr. Jann Murray-García of UC Davis Health. Murray-García’s inspirational career embodies the principles and its core values.

A Book to Combat Extremism at Home
The Mondavi Center hosted Miller-Idriss on Feb. 5. She is an expert on identifying and combating extremism worldwide, and her book, Hate in the Homeland: The New Global Far Right, was the 2023-24 selection for the UC Davis Campus Community Book Project.

"Together We Heal" Juneteenth 2023
On Sunday, June 4, UC Davis hosted the community for an early celebration of Juneteenth. DEI's Aggie Black Excellence project presented one segment of the full day program, which featured healing, tributes to veterans and youth performance.
