Paula F. Saravia is a visiting professor from the UC San Diego Department of Anthropology- Global Health Program. She is a medical anthropologist from Chile interested in the connections between cultural epidemiology, indigeneity, and everyday forms of care. Her new research project focuses on the experience of illness and climate change among indigenous communities in the Argentina-Chile border in northern Patagonia.

In this presentation, she will discuss the epidemiological information in relation to the experience of female patients who are receiving mental health and HIV-Aids treatment in the public heath care system in Lampa, Chile.
