DEI Reunion Retreat - Summer 2021

Page last updated July 9 at 4:15pm

Get ready for the DEI Summer Reunion Retreat on Tuesday, July 13! On this page, you will find up-to-date information about the schedule, venue, and logistics for our short time together. We are going to drop formalities and be extremely laid back for this event! On that note, the dress code will be summer casual – yes, that includes shorts, tee-shirts, jeans, baseball caps, and the like. This page will be updated regularly, so please check back often. If there is information that is missing that will benefit the entire team, please let us know so that we can add it.

Please read these RETURN TO CAMPUS SAFETY PROTOCOLS and follow the appropriate procedures before you come to campus on Tuesday
Please also note that this reunion retreat will be in person only
and there is not a virtual option

FAQs

  • Should we invite our DEI interns to attend as well?
  • We are prioritizing our DEI professional staff’s attendance for this retreat. This message has been relayed out to the AVCs.
  • Will masks be required indoors?
  • According to UC Davis' current rules (as of 6/30/21), face coverings are optional for vaccinated employees, and required for those who are not vaccinated. DEI is not allowed to mandate a health protocol that is over and above the current policy.  We will  however *highly recommend* that people consider what is safest for themselves and their colleagues. As an example, I am vaccinated, but I will wear mask.

On Thursday, June 3, 2021, Renetta, Germaine, and Robbie went to the International Center to take photos (view the slideshow below) to provide you with a visual of the venue. We were very pleased with the walk-through! We chose the time of day that would match our retreat so that we could estimate needs set-up in shaded areas.

We will be in the multi-purpose room on the first floor, which has lots of space. The best features are the retractable doors! The retractable doors will provide us with the unique opportunity to have some seating indoors, and some seating outdoors, with the doors remaining open throughout. In addition, the building air system will be running to provide the maximum amount of ventilation. In this way, we will have both the air exchange and cooling system, as well as the large open doors (these are larger than garage doors --- think of them as moveable, retractable walls.) In addition, we will be able to have some seating under the pergola, which provides shade.

We will have masks, hand sanitizer, water, and food available outdoors. The restrooms are within a few steps of the multi-purpose room.

The International Center is across from the field, and near the Cowell Building. There is plenty of parking available, and space for more than 100 inside, not to mention space available outside. The tables will be set up according to the campus’ rules for physical distancing. You will have a choice regarding where you want to sit, and how you want to engage.

We’re looking forward to a great time!
