More about Black Futures Month

February marks Black Futures Month, a collective envisioning of the path for Black life at UC Davis and beyond. Throughout this month, our dedication extends to recalling, commemorating, and gaining insights from Black History. It's an opportunity to recognize the global marginalization of Blackness and strive internally to elevate marginalized identities within communities for genuine liberation.

The Womxn’s Resources and Research Center, Cross Cultural Center, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual Resource Center are excited to co-host Black Futures Month, which takes place on February 1st- 28th! Please join us in celebrating and honoring the history of African/African-American/Afro-Caribbean/Afro-Latinx/Afro/Black Diasporic peoples.

Black Futures Month is a shared vision of the trajectory for Black life on this campus and beyond. During the month of February, we are committed to remembering, celebrating, and learning from Black History. It is a time to acknowledge that Blackness is marginalized globally and work internally to center the marginalized identities within communities for true liberation from the lethal Western Structures. History shows that Black people are more than what happened to them; on this campus, we are committed to continuing Black Excellence in the near and distant future. The theme to look to the Future in celebration of African/African-American/Afro-Caribbean/Afro-Latinx/Afro/Black Diasporic peoples embraces a mission of inclusion and enhances the visibility of the diaspora at the intersections.
