Gender Affirmation Closet

The Gender Affirmation Closet is a community-driven resource providing gender-affirming clothing to Trans and otherwise Gender Non-Confirming scholars on campus. For this event, bring clothes and accessories you'd like to swap and take home new ones! No clothes to swap? No problem! Just bring a bag and grab some clothes! Snacks provided. Space is ADA accessible.

Faculty Event - Freedom of Expression in the Classroom

When free speech issues arise in the classroom it 
creates an opportunity to leverage the conversation for learning; however, doing so in the moment can be challenging. This workshop is designed to help instructors practically address and unpack difficult conversations that are aligned with the Principles of Community. The session will have a number of common scenarios (e.g. political messages on hats, microaggressions on Canvas discussion forums) and tools to constructively re frame the classroom environment.

Griots Workshop with Janae Johnson

The “I Am Not a Product” workshop is designed to allow the diaspora to embrace their past and shed a positive light on their future. We will have a special performance by Janae Thompson and student scholar Malissia Bordeaux! They will co-lead a workshop to help guide you through poetry writing.

Thus, while this event is open to everyone, we are prioritizing the experiences of QTPOC.

Microresistance: Mechanisms for Surviving Microaggressions

This workshop is designed to teach participants to: Define and identify some of the most common occurrences of microaggressions; Identify the impact and outcomes associated with the experience of microaggressions; and Identify practical techniques to safely and comfortably push back against microaggressions. Refreshments will be provided.
