Bio

Marisa Davidson is a senior at the University of California, Davis. She is pursuing a double major in international relations, focusing on people and nationalities, and communication. She also intends to complete the professional writing minor. In her studies, Marisa is interested in taking courses that focus on analyzing dynamic and complex global topics. She has completed coursework in the politics of global inequality, interpersonal technology and health communication. 

In addition to her academic endeavors, Marisa has held a variety of internships and leadership roles on campus. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Marisa worked for the Aggie Public Health Ambassador Program. As an ambassador, she educated the UC Davis community about COVID-19, public health practices and the university’s policies. She then accepted a marketing and communications internship with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Her work supported the Healthy Davis Together Public Health Project and its social media accounts.

In 2021, Marisa transitioned to a communications internship at the Center for Leadership Learning. In the role, she created social media campaigns and marketing materials that highlighted the center’s resources and opportunities, and she represented the center at informational sessions. During this time, she also joined the College of Letters and Science Ambassador Program. She continues to work for the program as an ambassador leader. 

In 2022, Marisa returned to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as a social media and communications assistant, where she works today. Her projects include social media monitoring and content creation, email marketing, website updates and data analytics. In 2023, she became the social media and strategic communications project lead, where she continues to work on communications projects and leads the internship team. 

Outside of school, Marisa enjoys traveling to new places, experiencing new cultures and sampling local cuisines. She also likes to stay active by playing tennis and soccer – her two favorite sports. She is a member of the UC Davis Tennis Club and a recreational soccer team.

Why I Do DEI Work

In a diverse and interconnected world, supporting diversity, equity and inclusion is essential to ensure every voice is heard and represented. UC Davis strives to create an inclusive environment while celebrating the differences that make our campus a great place to learn and grow. I am passionate about continuing this collective effort by communicating the vital work of DEI to the UC Davis community and the world at large.
